AMA Fairview is Overall Champion in 2009 Cisco Skills Networking Competition

AMA Computer College, Fairview campus emerged the big winner in the nationwide Cisco Skills Networking Competition 2009 (Advanced Level) held in Angeles City, Pampanga recently where I.T. students from nine schools all over the Philippines competed. AMA Fairview beat Mapua Institute of Technology Intramuros, its closest rival, who won second place. Another AMA Computer College in Manila landed third place. This is the second consecutive year that AMA is overall champion in this competition. Last year, AMA East Rizal won first place.

The winning AMA Fairview team is composed of graduating students of BS Computer Science and Information Technology Marvin de la Cruz, Ralph Crysler Uy, John Mc Gregory Roque and Andry Dyan Bello with Arvin Andam and Jerralyn Ticman as Coaches. The team will automatically represent the Philippines in the 2nd Asia-Pacific Cisco Skills Networking Competition (NETRIDER) which will be held in October 2009 where 15 ASEAN countries will be competing.

The Cisco Skills Networking Competition is an annual competition held in the different countries where the Cisco Networking Academy program is offered. Last year, Cisco initiated the ASEAN Cisco Skills Networking Competition where all the first place winners of the different ASEAN countries are invited to compete. The competition challenges the youth, teachers and trainers to achieve high standards of competence in the IT and Networking fields. It involves testing the written and practical knowledge of students in computer networking skills. There are two components to the competition: a theoretical exam and hands on skill assessment.

AMAES is also authorized to administer the exams for CNA certification in the Philippines.
